NOTE - There is no additional software needed to create a PDF from Microsoft Word or Excel as the programs have this functionality built-in.  To create a PDF from a Word or Excel file, choose Print and then choose Microsoft Print to PDF from the printer selection box.  You will be prompted to name the file and then hit save to generate the PDF file.

Adobe offers three basic Acrobat products as part of their product line:

Acrobat Reader DC is a free download, and it allows you to view, annotate and sign PDF files. 

Acrobat Standard and Pro DC are not free and require a subscription.  They offer the ability to edit PDFs and many other features.
